The Wadduwa Trade and Industrialists Association has proudly upheld a cherished tradition for over a decade by organizing a grand Vesak Thoran, bringing light, culture, and spiritual reflection to the heart of Wadduwa. Now in its 13th successful year, the Association’s annual Vesak Thoran has become one of the most anticipated events in the region’s religious and cultural calendar.
Each year, the Vesak Thoran features a different Jathaka story, artistically illustrated through illuminated structures, carefully crafted to reflect Buddhist teachings of compassion, sacrifice, and wisdom. These displays are not only visual spectacles but also carry deep moral messages, offering the community a chance to reflect on the life and teachings of the Buddha.
The opening ceremonies of each Thoran are graced by the presence of venerable Bhikkhus, guests of honor, and community leaders, who join together with the public in a display of devotion and unity. These events are also marked by Buddhist sermons (bana), almsgivings (dansal), and community service initiatives, further enhancing their spiritual value.
