Light Tower Established at Dharmapala Statue – A New Landmark for Wadduwa City Center

Description

In a proud and meaningful step toward beautifying and preserving the heritage of Wadduwa City Center, a new light tower has been successfully established around the Dharmapala Statue, under the visionary guidance of Mr. Lanka Chandra De Silva, Chairman for the year 2024–2025.

The Dharmapala Statue, a symbol of cultural pride and historical significance, now stands illuminated at night, drawing attention and reverence from residents and visitors alike. This initiative not only enhances the visual appeal of the area but also pays tribute to the lasting legacy of Anagarika Dharmapala, a national hero who played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s cultural and spiritual revival.

Located at the heart of Wadduwa City Center, the statue area has long been a gathering place and landmark. With the addition of the light tower, it now shines as a beacon of inspiration and unity for the community.

Chairman Mr. Lanka Chandra De Silva, whose leadership and commitment to community development have been widely recognized, emphasized the importance of preserving historical landmarks while continuing to modernize urban spaces. This project reflects his broader vision of merging tradition with progress for the betterment of Wadduwa.

The Association extends its gratitude to all those who contributed to making this project a success, including local authorities, community members, and technical teams who worked diligently to bring the light tower to life.

As night falls over Wadduwa, the newly lit Dharmapala Statue stands not only as a monument of the past — but as a symbol of the city’s bright and promising future.
